Exploring pictures

On this page you will explore how pictures add information to the story that sometime the words do not give us. You will learn how to draw fanastic pictures that help make your story even better!

Did you notice.........
Describing a character by looking at the picture...

Look at this picture of the Rainbow Fish.

In your English books, write a list of describing words that we could use to describe Rainbow Fish using the picture.

After you have finish your list, have another read of the story (or go back to the video on the previous page). Draw a picture of what Rainbow Fish looked like at the end of the story.

In the book, When Henry caught Imaginitis, the things Henry was imagining were in COLOUR instead of being in black and white like the rest of the pictures? The authos has done this on purpose to show the readers (us) what Henry is imagining.

Your task is to draw a picture of Henry and something you think he could have imagined when he caught Imaginitis. Remember to think of how you use colour!

After you have drawn your picture, write a description of what Henry is imagining in your drawing and how Henry is feeling about this.
